Model 560 Lighthawk - Opacity / Dust Monitor
How do I get mg/m3 readings from the 560? Does the customer have to go through some tests at the stack? Yes. Testing is required in order for the 560 to report mg/ m3. Please refer to section 4 of the manual. Top of page Further to question #1: What kind of testing is required to get particulate mass readings - Is this isokinetic testing? Yes. EPA method 5 or 17. Top of page From the manual on section 4, it says: Optical Density = log (1/1-opacity) and can particulate mass readings be obtained from this calculation... since it's a straight line approximation? Optical density needs to be monitored during the Method 5 or 17 Particulate Mass testing. These points then need to be entered in the Dust Mass and Optical Density correlation curve in the 560 monitor. Top of page Will the calibration remain the same, using zero & span flags? Yes, they can. The unit continues to measure and report opacity. However, what the unit displays depends on what measurement units (F0) are chosen. i.e. opacity/ optical density or particulate mass. Refer to User Bank Data in section 3 of the manual. Top of page Can they have the mg/m3 readings without the enhanced remote panel? Yes. The scaling can be programmed in the A Bank of the optical head and F0 (measurement units) can be set to Particulate Mass. Top of page Can they have 2 outputs for (mg/m3 & opacity) without the remote panel? No. You will need an E.R.P. if you would like to have both. Top of page |
